Last day of highschool, a thousand free fools
All roads are open. Time to make their own rules
After years of struggle, memories & regrets
You're at the edge of the cliff with no safety nets
Johnny's dead, they found him in bed
A note on the dresser, a hole in his head
Oh Johnny, what'd you dream, you were the king of the scene
Was the crown too heavy, was the scenery too green?
Oh Johnny, Johnny, what did you see?
Oh Johnny, Johnny, what'd you want to be when you grew?
Now you're through. Feast of maggots, closed casket
It's on you.
Annie was found hung. Back room of a slum
Burnt out & harassed – payback for the scum
She's had enough, saw no hope. You know she couldn't cope
She took her last stand at the end of a rope
Oh Annie, Annie, what did you see?
Oh Annie, Annie, what'd you want to be when you grew?
Now you're through. Feast of crows, closed casket
It's on you.
(Instrumental break)
Death is silent. Death is sweet
Death is freedom. Death is bleak
Life is luscious. Life is meek
Life is boredom. Life is chic
Death is silent. Death is weak
Death is freedom. Death is Sleep
Life is luscious. Life is steep
Life is boredom at its peak
Ricky od'd, known as a bad seed
Reputation to maintain – a chaotic creed
And the wolf needs to feed, on a destructive binge
A disruptive stench, hot bath & syringe
Ricky, Ricky. What did you see?
Oh Ricky, Ricky. What'd you want to be?
When you grew. Now you're through
Feast for rodents, closed casket. It's on you

Money Talks

A Father roaming long to earn a penny
A mother giving birth all on her own
Not sure when then child was born,
All I know there was a storm that shook the boards & unhinged the nailed up windows
The child grew up by begging on the street
To help pitch in for meat & a bit of heat
Ma' lies below a stone & pops was barely home,
But guards the boy with love & never sleeps
Age 10, he wears rags with pins & patches
Got nothin' to show for it but wounds & scratches
The boy he lives in shame, all his neighbors they got a name
While he plays with sticks & stones & a box of matches
Shame runs deep, he runs for the hills
A materialistic destiny that he must fulfill
He left his world behind & his father who's now blind
Is left to crawl about & pay the bills
The road paved with gold is paid in slums
City folk talk fine but inside they're scum
Well, he became one of them, living only for the trend
& Through it all he forgot just where he came from
He tried to run around & make some money
He ended up trapped & lost his soul
He wished to leave this town, to reach a higher ground
But in the end we'll all end up 6 feet below.
In the end we'll all end up 6 feet below
In the end we'll all end up 6 feet below

Yesterday I dreamt I was an entitled self-made man
Even in my sleep I can't escape the neo-liberal plan
Fat cuts & privatization splits the well-to-do & the damned
& Our leaders offer nothing but the imitation of Uncle Sam
There's gotta be...Something else!
Some other way for things to be
A balance between culture & economy
A democratic social union set us free
A democratic social union set us free!
All hail border-less trade policies that the Master Class defends
Foreign suits they own our brains & rape our lands for a couple of cents
Yet we're told that all are free, don't mobilize & have no fear
You're free to speak your mind, all at once, every four years
There's gotta be...Something else!
Some other way for things to be
A balance between culture & economy
A democratic social union set us free
A democratic social union set us free!
Our sense of community needs maintenance & it's urgent
Individualistic logic so ingrained that solidarity became a burden
The people's union is a threat thus top brass breeds division
They know mutual support is the greatest form of opposition
There's gotta be...Something else!
Some other way for things to be
A balance between culture & economy
A democratic social union set us free
A democratic social union set us free!
Democracy! Set us free!
Democracy! Set us free!
A democratic social union set us free!
A democratic social union set us free!
Students & workers, stand up and heed the call
Unite & organize to break down the city walls
Forced on our hands & knees by debt, but still we move & crawl
Our mighty voice will echo all the way down to City Hall
There's gotta be...Something else!
Some other way for things to be
A balance between culture & economy
A democratic social union set us free
A democratic social union set us free!

Route 66

Route 66, a deathly sunset kissed the ground & from its lips
Whispers of doom spread all around.
The familiar sound of a metal husk, Human flesh and bone now turned to dust
Charred remains – such a lovely musk. Amphetamine sulfate from dawn to dusk.
Another sick soul lost to the wind yeah, 40 years the same wheels were in spin
Same old mind in the same old skin, same old patterns that have always been. And always will remain.
That which stays the same, never subject to gain, can never escape the frame and thus exists in vain. Now its plain to see, the old terrain is strained. Only the insane refuse to change their minds.
And in time, the blind lead the blind. None see the signs of the Evil they rally behind.
History repeats, and the cycle completes – doomsday for mankind. Its the end of the line.
Ride on into the sunset, the eternal sleepless night awaits
There can be no redemption for the fool that walks the path of past mistakes.
Rust took over, the engine is lost, skidmarks on asphalt is now guiding the course
The whole system destroyed from within, a departing hymn resonating through the exhaust.
What's dead is lost, what's lost is past. The past is dead, though past ain't lost.
The past is dead, though past ain't lost. The past is dead, though past ain't lost.
(instrumental)
Mankind is reinvention (x8)
